made by the Honorable George Harris, in a com
mumcation to the Bnsbane Chamber of Com
merce, was from this pit -
" The Chairman Btated he had information to
lay before the Committee which he thought
would be of special interest. He had received a
communication from the Captain of the ship
Derbyshire, dated November 17, 1874, stating
that the cargo of coals he had taken from Brig
bane to San Francisco, had realised £1 16s 8d
per ton , and that the qualify of the coals had
been to much appro\ ed of there, that he (the
captain) strongly recommended further ship
meuts, which ho thought would realise from nine
to ten dollars per ton there1 (Courier, 13th
